Synthetic Rubberized Surface

Our synthetic rubberized surface is a seamless playground surface consisting of SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber; recycled rubber tire granular,) or TPV (Thermoplastic vulcanisates) and is combined with a polyurethane binder. The surface is highly durable, resilient, colourful, virtually maintenance-free and designed specifically to help protect children from serious injuries. Rubber surfacing is ideal for play spaces, walking surfaces, bike paths, and as a boarder for synthetic grass surface. Available in assorted colours (link to colour chart).

We also specialize in synthetic rubberized surface repairs. If your existing synthetic rubberized surface has cracks, holes, sinking and/or lifting, we can repair your surface. We will do our best to match the colour of your existing surface.

All synthetic rubberized surface installation and repairs abide by current CSA Standards.

Specifications

Testing

Tested in accordance to ASTM F-1292 standard specification for impact attenuation, CSA and meeting CPSC standards for playground surfacing and providing a GMAX (the measure of the maximum acceleration (shock) produced by an impact) of less then 200 and a HIC (Head Injury Criterion) of less then 1000.  Synthetic rubberized surfacing has been tested to meet the requirements of the National Standard of Canada CAN/CSA-Z614-07, Children’s playspaces and equipment.

Quality Assurance

Play Clean Ltd. insures that all employees installing rubber surfacing shall have at least seven years proven experience in the industry. The synthetic rubberized surfacing will only be installed when temperatures exceed 5 Degrees C. Installation during dry weather conditions is recommended. The synthetic rubberized surfacing will require a minimum of 24-48 hours for curing period.

Installation - Base Preparation

Synthetic rubberized surfacing is ideally installed on asphalt or concrete surfaces. It can also be installed on granular, however when using a granular base, a 2”-4” depth is required and then leveled and compacted. A geotextile (filter cloth) between the granular base and surface is recommended.  Synthetic rubberized surfacing is a water permeable surface, as a result, granular, asphalt or concrete surfaces require a slope of no less than 2% to drain.

Thickness of Synthetic Rubberized Surface

Thickness of the rubber safety surface can range from 30mm to 100 mm with a 3 ft.-10 ft. fall height according to CSA and ASTM standards for playground surfacing. Installation at 30mm thickness of topcoat will have a weight of 8 lbs. dispersing per square foot. Polyurethane binder is mixed throughout the entire thickness.
